The Missing Lynx Project notes the High Court’s decision dismissing a judicial review brought by Lynx UK Trust CIC against Natural England in relation to a specific application submitted in 2022 to return lynx to England.  

We are not affiliated with Lynx UK Trust CIC and had no involvement in their 2022 application or their subsequent legal proceedings. 

The Missing Lynx Project is satisfied that there are routes to reintroduce lynx in ways which can be lawfully implemented. For now, our focus remains on building a robust evidence base, engaging openly with local communities, land managers and stakeholders, while working through the appropriate regulatory processes with Natural England and other relevant authorities.  

Lynx are making a successful comeback across continental Europe. As the UK faces an urgent need to restore nature, we hope to submit a licence application next year provided we can finalise plans with stakeholders that are acceptable, feasible and can be implemented.
